How It Works

Four simple steps to your booking.

  1. Pick a direction that fits your flights

Shared expeditions run both ways. Start where your arrival flight lands and finish where your next flight leaves, with a night spare before any international connection.

  2. Book the date on GetYourGuide or Viator

Each listing shows its open departures, the price for your date and its own cancellation terms. You pay the platform, not this site.

  3. Go to the briefing the evening before

Most operators hold a short pre-departure briefing in town the night before you sail, where they check names, fees and luggage. Your confirmation gives the time and place.

  4. Sail, snorkel and sleep on the islands

Days are boat hops between beaches, reefs and fishing villages; nights are simple island camps. Most shared trips arrive in the late afternoon of day three.

How a 3D2N crossing runs

Three Days, Day by Day

What surprises most first-timers is that the trip starts the evening before you sail, and that nobody can promise the route. The crew picks the stops each morning for wind and sea. This is the usual shape of a shared three-day, two-night crossing northbound from El Nido; going the other way, the same stages run in reverse.

  1. The evening before: the briefing — Most operators hold a briefing in town the night before. We Are Juan's is at 5 pm at its office and attendance is mandatory; Castaway's is at 6 pm at Outpost Hostels. Expect a name check, the plan and a word on fees, so bring pesos for any environmental fees your listing excludes.
  2. Day 1, morning: to the boat — From El Nido, a transfer of about 45 minutes crosses the peninsula to San Fernando port on the east coast; Keelooma's boat leaves there around 9:30 to 10:00. From Coron, boats sail from the port once Coast Guard and port clearance is given. Your main bag goes into the hull for the trip.
  3. Day 1: first stops and first camp — Two or three stops to snorkel a reef or swim off a beach, lunch cooked by the crew, then the first camp in the late afternoon. Keelooma spends this day along east El Nido and south Linapacan. Dinner, a bonfire, then native huts with a mattress and mosquito net.
  4. Day 2: the middle of the route — A full day among the islands of central Linapacan, far from either town. More snorkelling and beach stops, then a second camp. Electricity at most camps runs only a few hours in the evening, and phone signal is patchy to absent.
  5. Day 3: Culion and the run in — The last stops are around Culion before the boat heads for Busuanga and Coron.
  6. Arrival, about 4–5 pm — We Are Juan reaches Coron at about 4 to 5 pm on day 3, and Keelooma at about 5 pm. Heading south, boats land at San Fernando and a van or jeepney takes you on to El Nido town. Book a bed that night, and leave a spare day before any flight; see what to expect.

How to Choose a Coron–El Nido Expedition

What the days are like, which trip length fits, how the operators differ and the planning that keeps a weather delay from costing you a flight.

For most travellers with three days to spare, a shared expedition of three days and two nights is the best way to cross between El Nido and Coron. Our pick is We Are Juan’s El Nido to Coron expedition: rated 4.8 from 602 reviews on GetYourGuide, the most of any expedition we track, and $311 per person on dates we checked in late October 2026. Starting in Coron, the same operator’s Coron to El Nido departure was the same price. What a typical expedition day looks like

The rhythm is much the same whoever you sail with: you leave after breakfast, make two or three stops to snorkel a reef or swim off a beach, eat lunch cooked by the crew and reach the night’s camp in the late afternoon. Most trips end the day with a bonfire, games or karaoke. There is no fixed route: Keelooma and Big Dream Boatman both say the crew chooses the stops each morning for wind and sea, so two boats on the same date can see different islands.

The route crosses Linapacan and Culion, the island groups halfway between the two towns. It does not take in El Nido’s lagoons or Coron’s lakes; Keelooma says so outright, and none of the shared itineraries we read list them. If you want those, add a day tour at either end.

Nights are spent in native huts on the beach, usually two people to a hut, with a mattress, pillow and mosquito net. We Are Juan’s huts have no fan. Toilets and showers are shared and simple, and Keelooma describes its showers as a bucket and dipper. Most camps run electricity for a few hours in the evening, phone signal is patchy at best and there is no Wi-Fi. Three cooked meals a day lean on fish, rice and vegetables; Keelooma, We Are Juan and Big Dream Boatman take vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free requests with notice. What to expect covers the camps in more detail.

Which trip length suits you

Most marketplace trips last three days and two nights and arrive in the afternoon of day three; We Are Juan says about 4 to 5 pm. That suits first-timers, backpackers and anyone with a fixed flight. Groups go up to 22 to 25 people on most listings, and the social side is part of the draw: Castaway’s Coron to El Nido expedition is adults only and says most guests are 18 to 35. Our 3-day, 2-night page asks whether three days is enough.

A longer trip buys a slower pace, not better islands. Big Dream Boatman sells four days and three nights in both directions, at $599 per person on its own site on 25 October 2026. Tao Philippines’ original trip is four nights, arriving around noon on the fifth day. On GetYourGuide, Sea Quest’s 4-day expedition swaps one camp night for a villa at Ariara, a private-island resort, for $1,051 per person on the first open date; it is new on GetYourGuide, with no reviews yet. An extra day means more stops, and another night of shared showers off the grid. The 4-day, 3-night page sets out what you gain.

A private boat suits couples, families and groups who want their own pace. El Nido Adventure Tours’ private 3-day expedition on Viator was $1,701 per person, rated 4.5 from 20 reviews; see private expeditions. If you only need to get across, the fast ferry takes about three and a half hours, and 2026 sources put the fare at roughly PHP 2,750 to 3,250. Expedition vs ferry weighs the two, and the expedition price guide lists every tier with its extra fees.

How the operators compare

Our best expeditions page ranks them in full. Of the operators on GetYourGuide or Viator:

Three well-known names sell only direct. Tao Philippines has run trips since 2006; we found no current price. Big Dream Boatman runs 4-day trips from October to July and takes guests aged 12 to 60. Buhay Isla offers three to five days, from PHP 22,900 per person with fees included, booked by email. Tao vs Big Dream Boatman puts the two longer trips side by side. Whoever you choose, check that the boat and captain are licensed and that life jackets are aboard; We Are Juan’s listing names all three.

Practical planning

The broad window is November to May: PAGASA’s normals for Coron give under 40 mm of rain a month from January to April, against over 300 mm a month from June to September. Big Dream Boatman does not sail in August and September, while Keelooma and Castaway sell dates through the wet months and sail only when the Coast Guard allows. October is a transition month. The best time to go guide goes month by month.

Plan to arrive the day before. We Are Juan’s briefing is at 5 pm the evening before departure and attendance is mandatory; Castaway’s is at 6 pm. Bring pesos: several listings, including our pick, leave the municipal environmental fees (El Nido PHP 400, Coron PHP 200) to be paid in cash.

Your main bag rides in the hull until you land, so pack three days of essentials in a small dry bag. The packing list has the details.

Weather can hold a boat in port for a day, and Keelooma warns that the small planes at Lio and Busuanga are cancelled in poor visibility. Tao and independent guides advise a spare day before any international flight; we would leave two. Then choose your start by your flights: Coron to El Nido if you land at Busuanga, El Nido to Coron if you start in El Nido.

"Amazing tour with a great group of people. Great snorkeling, games and island hopping. The food was fantastic"

Nathan

"This was actually one of the best experiences of my life. Rico and Ned made it so much fun. They encouraged everyone to get involved in all of the activities so no one was left out of anything! I would highly recommend choosing We Are Juan for your El Nido to Coron boat trip! It was three days of great food, stunning beaches , snorkelling and playing volleyball on remote islands, what’s better than that !!"

Aoibhin

"Just, WOWWWWWW ! Don't hesitate. The price is worth a thousand times!!! Thank you Rico, Jo, Ivan and Sam for this masterclass! The group of 15 was great and thanks to their overflowing energy, the whole group was super active! If you plan to meet people from all over the world, guides who are waiting for you, and beautiful beaches, go for it! The fish is caught the same day, we sleep in very romantic little huts, we are even surprised all day long by the unlikely know-how of the guides. In short, too much to say compared to the number of characters possible. I recommend!!!!"

Timothée

"Went to the Philippines for 10 days and this 3 day trip was honestly the highlight of that trip, the staff were amazing at their job and a great group of people to spend three days with."

GetYourGuide traveler
