3 days, 2 nights
What Three Days Gets You
Three days is enough for most travellers. The 3-day, 2-night trip is the standard format: ten of the eleven shared Coron–El Nido expeditions we compare on GetYourGuide and Viator are this length, priced at $281 to $369 per person on dates we checked in late October 2026. You get two nights in beach huts on remote islands, two to four swim and snorkel stops a day, and arrival in the late afternoon of day three. What you give up is pace. The boat covers the whole crossing in two nights, so the days are full and you rarely stay anywhere long. Our pick is Castaway’s 3-day trip from Coron, 4.9 from 45 reviews at $327. If you want a slower trip, a 4-day expedition adds one more camp night for about $599 direct. Read our Castaway review
What a 3-day trip actually covers
All the 3-day boats sail the same stretch of sea between Coron and El Nido’s east coast, through the Culion and Linapacan islands. In a straight line Coron and El Nido are about 127 km apart, and Tao, which takes four nights, describes its route as a 250 km stretch across the archipelago. The 3-day boats cover the same crossing in two nights.
Most listings name the kind of stops, not a fixed route, because crews choose islands each morning by wind and sea. Expect snorkelling over reefs, sandbars, empty beaches, and on some trips a fishing village. Sea Nomads’ Coron departure, new on GetYourGuide with no reviews yet, gives the most detail: a viewpoint hike on Waling Waling Island, lunch on the boat on day one, cliff jumping at Double Nueve when the sea allows, and a visit to a fishing village on Inapapuan Island.
The 3-day trips do not visit Coron’s Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon or El Nido’s lagoons. Those are day trips, and if you want them, add a day on either side. Our El Nido island hopping and Coron island hopping pages cover them.
Where the time goes: hours on the boat
No operator publishes how many hours each leg takes, so treat these as markers, not a timetable:
| Moment | What the operators say |
|---|---|
| Evening before | Mandatory briefing: We Are Juan 5 pm, Castaway 6 pm |
| Day 1 morning | Keelooma meets at 7:30 am and sails from San Fernando between 9:30 and 10 am |
| Each day | Two or three stops (Keelooma); two to four (Sea Quest) |
| Evenings at camp | Power and showers 6 pm to 10:30 pm (Sea Nomads); 4 to 5 hours of power (Keelooma) |
| Day 3 | Arrival in Coron about 4 to 5 pm (We Are Juan); about 5 pm (Keelooma) |
In practice you are on or near the boat from mid-morning to late afternoon on all three days, with a camp evening in between. One three-star reviewer on We Are Juan’s El Nido trip noted nowhere to shelter when it rained and little room to escape the sun. Castaway’s listing says the trip is not suitable for people prone to seasickness, and Keelooma and Big Dream Boatman both advise taking tablets before boarding.
What a fourth day buys you
A 4-day trip covers the same crossing with an extra camp night, so each day has less sailing and more time ashore. It also costs more:
| Trip | Nights | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Shared 3D2N on GetYourGuide or Viator | 2 | $281 to $369 per person |
| Big Dream Boatman 4D3N, direct | 3 | $599 per person |
| Buhay Isla 3D2N vs 4D3N, direct | 2 or 3 | PHP 22,900 vs PHP 26,900 |
| Sea Quest 4-day from Coron | 3, one at a resort | $1,051 per person |
| Tao Philippines Original, direct | 4, arriving noon on day 5 | Not found on its site |
Direct prices were checked on 25 October 2026. Big Dream Boatman and Tao are direct-only; we earn nothing from those links. Buhay Isla shows the step most clearly: PHP 4,000 more for the fourth day on its own price list. Our 4-day and longer expeditions page goes through each.
Who should book three days, and who should not
Book a 3-day trip if your Philippines time is short, you are on a backpacker budget, or this is your first expedition. You still sleep two nights on islands with no road access, and the crossing becomes the trip itself, where the fast ferry takes about 3.5 hours. Our guide to the expedition vs the ferry runs that comparison.
Look at longer trips if you dislike long boat days, want time to read on a beach, or care more about the camps than the crossing. Families with younger children have fewer 3-day choices on the marketplaces. We Are Juan and Sea Nomads set a minimum age of 16, and Castaway and Exodus take adults only. Keelooma, which sells a 3-day trip direct and on GetYourGuide, accepts children from five on its own site.
Whichever length you choose, the conditions are the same: shared toilets and showers, bucket showers at some camps, no Wi-Fi, and phone signal that is patchy or absent. Weather can cut a day short or hold a boat at camp. One We Are Juan guest from Coron spent two days at the first camp. Tao and independent travel guides both advise a buffer day before any international flight.
The 3-day listings worth comparing
We Are Juan from El Nido is the most reviewed 3-day trip, 4.8 from 602 reviews at $311, and its Coron departure is the same price at 4.8 from 167. Exodus from Coron is the lowest priced with a review history at $281, from 16 reviews. Keelooma from El Nido is $324 with a tinikling lesson. On Viator, the El Nido group expedition is $365 with 5.0 from eight reviews, but it is not marked free cancellation. The table above sets them side by side. Each direction has its own page: Coron to El Nido and El Nido to Coron. Our best expeditions page picks one operator per type of traveller.

"This was an unbelievable experience, worth the hype. I was initially worried that I would be out of place as a 31 year old with the outpost hostel but this was unfounded, met some amazing people of 21-31 and we got on so well and bonded over the 3 days The crew, the sights, the food! unforgettable experience, highlight of my trip and I am so glad I booked with Castaway family."

3-Day, 2-Night Expeditions: FAQ
Short answers on the standard-length Coron–El Nido trip.
For most travellers, yes. It covers the full crossing with two nights at island camps and two to four stops a day. The trade-off is pace: days are full and you rarely linger. If you want slower days, compare the 4-day and longer trips.
Shared 3-day trips on GetYourGuide and Viator cost $281 to $369 per person on dates we checked in late October 2026. Direct prices run from PHP 16,000 to 19,800 at We Are Juan, Castaway, Sea Nomads and Keelooma, and PHP 22,900 at Buhay Isla. Local environmental fees may be extra. See the price breakdown.
No operator publishes leg times. Boats usually leave mid-morning and reach camp by sunset, with two to four stops in between. Keelooma, for example, sails from San Fernando between 9:30 and 10 am and lands at about 5 pm on day three.
Late afternoon on day three. We Are Juan gives about 4 to 5 pm in Coron and Keelooma about 5 pm. If you finish on the El Nido side, add about 45 minutes by road from the port to town.
No. The expeditions sail through the remote Culion and Linapacan islands. Coron's lakes and El Nido's lagoons are day trips: see Coron island hopping and El Nido island hopping.
We Are Juan for most people (4.8 from 602 reviews from El Nido), Castaway for the highest rating and a social crowd (4.9 from 45 from Coron), and Exodus for the lowest price with reviews ($281). Our best expeditions page explains each pick.
Options are limited. Most marketplace 3-day trips set a minimum age of 16 or 18. Keelooma accepts children from five on its own site, and a private expedition lets you set the group yourself.
