How to Fit a Coron Day Tour Around the Crossing
Four steps so the day tour doesn't clash with the expedition.
Pay the Coron fee on arrival
Coron's PHP 200 environmental fee is collected in cash at the airport or port. Day tours don't include it; keep the receipt.
Keep a full day free
Pickup is between 8 and 9 am and the tour ends around 5 to 5:30 pm, which clashes with a 5 pm expedition briefing.
Decide on rentals beforehand
Masks, fins and kayaks are extra on most listings, and reviewers say you are asked to choose a kayak at the start.
Be ready for the stairs
Kayangan Lake and Barracuda Lake are reached by steps; one listing counts about 600 at Kayangan, up and down.

Coron day tours
Which Coron Tour, and When to Fit It In
Give Coron one full day for an island hopping tour, because the expedition is unlikely to take you to Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon or Barracuda Lake. Most crossings head south from Coron through Culion and Linapacan, and Keelooma states that its route skips the Coron lakes. The tour we’d book is PSALMS Travel’s Coron Ultimate Tour, rated 4.8 from 1,505 reviews. On a date we checked in late October 2026 it was $42 per person for the shared group tour, $96 with a stop at Maquinit Hot Springs added, and $217 per person for two on the private boat option, which includes gear, a kayak and lunch. The group price covers hotel pickup in Coron town, a buffet lunch and the site entrance fees; you pay the PHP 200 Coron environmental fee yourself, on arrival.
What the Ultimate Tour covers
The PSALMS listing names seven stops: Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Twin Lagoon, Skeleton Wreck, a beach for lunch (Skeleton, Banul or Atwayan), CYC Beach and a coral garden. Pickup is between 8 and 9 am within Coron town proper, barangays 1 to 6, and the tour ends around 5 to 5:30 pm with a drop-off in town.
- Kayangan Lake: a short uphill walk to a viewpoint, then a swim in the lake.
- Twin Lagoon: you swim through a narrow gap from one lagoon into the next, between limestone cliffs.
- Barracuda Lake: a lake between rock walls, known for the change in water temperature as you go deeper.
- Skeleton Wreck: a shallow wreck that snorkellers can see from the surface.
- CYC Beach and the coral garden: swimming and snorkelling stops.
Included: guide, boat and crew, life vests, entrance fees, permits and local taxes, buffet lunch, bottled water and a shaded table at lunch. Not included: the Coron environmental fee, snorkel masks, fins and kayaks, and tips. The listing says tours run rain or shine, and if PSALMS cancels or makes a significant change you can choose a full refund.

We only have a date price for the PSALMS tour, so check the others on your date. The site fees these tours cover are not small: guides put Kayangan Lake at PHP 300 and Twin Lagoon at PHP 200, and Barracuda Lake at PHP 200 to 250. The Tagbanua people of Coron Island, who hold it as ancestral domain, collect them. Check that your listing includes them, as all five above say they do.
What the low reviews warn about
The PSALMS tour’s reviews are strong, but the three-star ones make useful points. Several say the crew pushes a kayak rental at the start of the day, at PHP 1,500, and that you have to decide before you know if you need it; those who paid felt they barely used it. One found the boat crowded, with people at the front getting soaked. Others mention broken snorkel gear and water shoes that were paid for but not supplied. One reviewer felt the lakes suit people who are happy swimming and snorkelling, and that non-swimmers get less from the day. Bring your own mask if you have one, and take a life vest if you are not a confident swimmer.
Experience Coron’s listing is frank about the effort involved: about 600 steps at Kayangan Lake, 300 up to the viewpoint and 300 down to the lake, and about 300 at Barracuda Lake. Its own advice is that the kayak is not necessary on a shared tour.
Fitting a day tour around the expedition
Starting in Coron: We Are Juan holds its compulsory briefing at 5 pm the evening before departure, and Castaway’s is at 6 pm. A tour that ends around 5 to 5:30 pm clashes with that, so book the day tour for an earlier day, not the day before you sail. Our Coron to El Nido page compares the departures.
Arriving in Coron: expeditions from El Nido reach Coron in the afternoon of the last day, around 4 to 5 pm for We Are Juan. The day tour belongs on the next day. If you pay the Coron fee on arrival by boat, keep the receipt for the day tour.
Some expedition listings do touch the Coron end of the route. Sea Quest’s group trip from El Nido advertises a hike to Kayangan Lake, and others stop at Ditaytayan Sandbar, Bulog Dos or Araw Beach near Coron. Check your expedition’s itinerary before you book a day tour that repeats it. Our El Nido to Coron page lists the arrivals.
Which option to book
We’d take the PSALMS group tour for most travellers: it has by far the most reviews of the Coron tours we track, and the price includes the site fees. Choose the hot springs option if you want Maquinit Hot Springs added to the day, and the private option for a couple or family who want to set the pace and skip the crowded boat; the kayak and gear are included in that one. For a bed near the port, see where to stay in Coron. If you have a day in El Nido too, our El Nido island hopping page covers Tours A and C.

Usually not. Most expeditions sail south from Coron through Culion and Linapacan, and Keelooma states that its route skips the Coron lakes. A few listings, such as Sea Quest's group trip from El Nido, mention Kayangan Lake, so check your itinerary. See Coron to El Nido.
PSALMS Travel's Coron Ultimate Tour was $42 per person for the shared group tour on a date we checked in late October 2026, $96 with Maquinit Hot Springs added and $217 per person for two on the private option. Add the PHP 200 Coron fee if you have not paid it.
On most listings: the PHP 200 Coron environmental fee, snorkel masks, fins, kayaks and tips. Reviewers of the PSALMS tour say a PHP 1,500 kayak is offered at the start of the day; decide beforehand whether you want one.
