A typical Coron to El Nido expedition lasts 3 days and 2 nights. You sail from one town in the morning, sleep at beach camps in the Culion and Linapacan islands, and land in the other town in the afternoon of day 3. We Are Juan, for example, says it reaches Coron at about 4 to 5 pm on the third day. Longer trips add nights, not distance: Big Dream Boatman runs 4 days and 3 nights, Sea Quest sells 4- and 5-day versions with a private-island resort stay, and Tao’s Original spends four nights on the water, arriving around noon on day five. No route is fixed. Crews choose each day’s stops in the morning according to wind and sea, so treat every itinerary below as a typical plan, not a promise.
We Are Juan 3D2N, Coron to El Nido
The route: El Nido, Linapacan, Culion, Coron
El Nido sits at the northern tip of mainland Palawan. Coron is on Busuanga Island in the Calamian group, further north-east. In a straight line the two towns are about 127 km apart, but no expedition takes the straight line. Tao Philippines describes its trips as covering “a 250km stretch” of archipelago.
Going north from El Nido, the islands come in a fixed order: the east coast of El Nido around San Fernando and Sibaltan, then the Linapacan islands, then Culion, then western Busuanga and the reefs around Coron. Keelooma’s own day-by-day plan follows exactly that sequence: east El Nido and south Linapacan, then central Linapacan, then Culion and Coron. Coron to El Nido trips run the same chain in reverse.
Two practical details shape the first and last hours:
- El Nido departures do not leave from El Nido town. Keelooma, Big Dream Boatman and We Are Juan all board at San Fernando port on the east coast, about 45 minutes away by van or jeepney, and their transfer is part of the trip. Castaway’s listings name Sibaltan port instead.
- Coron departures leave from the Port of Coron, after what Sea Quest describes as tourism registration and Philippine Coast Guard clearance.
Most days follow the same rhythm. You leave camp after breakfast, make two or three snorkelling, swimming or beach stops, eat lunch on a beach or on board, and reach the next camp near sunset. The operators’ listings mention bonfires and karaoke in the evenings.
A typical 3-day, 2-night route, day by day
The We Are Juan listings for Coron to El Nido and El Nido to Coron do not publish named stops. Three other listings do, and their lists overlap closely. This table puts them side by side in the Coron to El Nido direction. Sea Quest’s private trip runs the other way, so read its column from the bottom up.
| Day | Exodus Expedition (Coron to El Nido) | Sea Nomads (Coron to El Nido) | Sea Quest private (El Nido to Coron) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Waling Waling or Bulog Dos, Coco Beach, Ditaytayan Sandbar, Araw Beach | Waling Waling (snorkel and viewpoint), Banana Island (lunch on board), Ditaytayan Sandbar or Araw Beach, camp | Day 3 in its direction: Araw Beach, Ditaytayan, Bulog Dos, Coron Port |
| Day 2 | Hinapupuan (Asis) Island, Double Nueva cliff jumping, coral garden, Cagdanao Island, camp | Double Nueve cliff jumping, Inapapuan fishing village, Asis Coral Garden, camp | Day 2: Linapacan turtle spots, Cagdanao, Inapupan, camp on Culion |
| Day 3 | Bulawit (turtles), Takling (Cobra Island), Calibangbangan (starfish), Daracoton shipwreck, then port and El Nido | Cagdanao, Taclin Island, Starfish Island (Calibangbangan), San Fernando port, about an hour’s drive to El Nido | Day 1: van to San Fernando, Darocotan, Calibangbangan, camp on Ginto Island |
Three things stand out. Ditaytayan Sandbar, Araw Beach, Cagdanao, Inapupuan and Calibangbangan appear on almost every list, whatever the spelling. Cliff jumping at Double Nueve is the one stop Sea Nomads warns may be skipped, because it is exposed to waves. And the last day usually ends at San Fernando, with a van into El Nido town: Sea Nomads gives a drop-off between 3 and 6 pm.
Prices for these 3-day trips sit close together. On dates we checked in late October 2026, We Are Juan was $311 per person in either direction, Exodus $281, Sea Nomads $309 and Castaway Coron to El Nido $327. The 3-day, 2-night guide compares what each includes.
Operator by operator: start, finish and nights
The night count matters more than the label. “3 days” on a listing means two nights in camp, with the third day spent sailing.
| Operator | Trip | Nights | Leaves | Arrives |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| We Are Juan (GetYourGuide) | 3 days, both directions | 2 in native huts | Briefing 5 pm the evening before | Coron about 4 to 5 pm, day 3 |
| Castaway Tours PH (GetYourGuide) | 3 days, both directions | 2 in nipa huts | Briefing 6 pm the evening before at Outpost hostel | Day 3; time not stated on the listing |
| Keelooma (direct and GetYourGuide) | 3 days, both directions | 2 in bahay kubo huts | Meet 07:30; boat leaves San Fernando 09:30 to 10:00 | About 17:00, day 3 |
| Sea Nomads (GetYourGuide) | 3 days, both directions | 2 in beach huts | Port of Coron or El Nido TownSquare | El Nido 3 to 6 pm, day 3 |
| Big Dream Boatman (direct only) | 4 days, both directions | 3 in cottages or glamping tents | Meet 09:00, sail about 10:00 to 11:00 | Coron Port 15:00 to 16:00 or Lio about 16:00, day 4 |
| Sea Quest 4-day | Coron to El Nido | 2 camp, 1 resort | Coron Main Port 08:20 | San Fernando 4 to 6 pm, then 45 min van, day 4 |
| Sea Quest 5-day | El Nido to Coron | 2 camp, 2 resort | El Nido TownSquare | Coron 4 to 6 pm, day 5 |
| Tao Philippines Original (direct only) | Both directions | 4 at Tao basecamps | Briefing 18:00 the evening before | About 12:00, day 5 |
Tao’s own pages label the Original “4 days 4 nights”. In calendar terms that is four nights spread over five days, plus a briefing the evening before, so you need to book five days of your trip for it, not four. Its El Nido to Coron version drives to San Fernando, sleeps the first night at Tao Beach Farm near Daracouton Bay, spends days two and three in Linapacan and south Culion, and sleeps the last night at Camp Ngey Ngey on west Busuanga. Tao sells only on its own site.
4- and 5-day routes: what the extra days buy
Longer trips cover the same islands. What changes is the pace and, on some trips, the bed.
- Big Dream Boatman adds a third camp night. It sells only through its own site, where the 4-day trip showed $599 per person (list $649) on 25 October 2026.
- Sea Quest’s 4-day trip from Coron spends one of its three nights at Ariara, a private-island resort with air-conditioned villas, an infinity pool and Starlink Wi-Fi, between two camp nights. It was $1,051 per person for 10 November 2026 when we checked.
- Sea Quest’s 5-day trip from El Nido gives Ariara two nights and a free day in between, then a last camp night on Culion. It was $1,541 per person for 24 November 2026.
- Buhay Isla, which books by email, lists 3-, 4- and 5-day trips at PHP 22,900, 26,900 and 30,900 per person.
- We Are Juan’s own site shows a 4-day El Nido to Coron product at PHP 23,000, although its menu lists only the 3-day trips.
We’d pick a 4-day trip if you want slower mornings and fewer hours sitting on the boat each day, and stay on 3 days if your main goal is getting from one town to the other with two nights on the islands. The 4-day and longer trips page goes into what each extra night costs.
Stops you will not see on an expedition
Keelooma states plainly that its expedition does not visit El Nido’s lagoons or Coron’s lakes, and the routes above confirm the pattern: no Kayangan Lake and no Twin Lagoon. The expeditions run through the remote middle of the route. If those famous sites are on your list, add a day tour at either end, such as Coron’s Ultimate Tour or El Nido Tour C. Our Coron island-hopping and El Nido island-hopping guides compare them.
Planning your days around the route
- Arrive the day before. We Are Juan, Castaway and Tao all hold a briefing the evening before departure, and We Are Juan and Castaway make it mandatory.
- Keep the arrival evening free. Most trips land in mid to late afternoon. Sea Quest’s 5-day listing tells guests to avoid flights or tight connections that evening.
- Expect changes. Sea Quest, Keelooma and Sea Nomads all say stops can change or be skipped because of weather, sea conditions or Coast Guard instructions. See the best time to go for the seasons.
