We Are Juan direct at PHP 16,000–19,000 against $311 on GetYourGuide, per person for 3 days and 2 nights, checked late October 2026

We Are Juan runs a 3-day, 2-night group expedition between El Nido and Coron in both directions, sleeping two nights in native huts on remote beaches. It is the most-reviewed expedition on GetYourGuide for this route: the El Nido to Coron listing had 602 reviews averaging 4.8 when we checked on 25 October 2026, and both directions cost $311 per person there on the first open dates. Booked direct, We Are Juan showed PHP 16,000 to 19,000 depending on the date. The trip is basic, social and off-grid, with a compulsory briefing at 5 pm the evening before and a minimum age of 16. Book it if you want a well-tested 3-day trip with free cancellation; skip it if you need a fan, privacy or a phone signal.

The two GetYourGuide listings

We Are Juan sells each direction as a separate listing. The trips are the same format, run by the same crew company, but the small print differs in places.

The El Nido departure lists the four local eco-tourism fees as excluded: Coron PHP 200, Linapacan PHP 200, Culion PHP 100 and El Nido PHP 400. The same listing also says “All Entrance Fees” are included, which appears to cover island site fees, not those municipal fees. Budget PHP 900 in cash on top of the price for that direction. The Coron departure does not list the fees as excluded, but it states that every guest must hold valid environmental tickets as a government requirement. Ask at the briefing what you still need to pay.

Direct price or GetYourGuide?

We Are Juan’s own website showed “from PHP 18,000” on its homepage and PHP 16,000 to 19,000 on the product pages, depending on the date, on 25 October 2026. GetYourGuide showed $311 per person on dates we checked in late October 2026. We have not converted between them, because the result depends on the exchange rate and your card’s charges on the day. Compare the two on your own date before you book.

What you get for booking through GetYourGuide is the cancellation window: a full refund if you cancel up to two days ahead. We Are Juan’s own policy gives a full refund or a reschedule if weather or safety cancels the trip, and says it tries to reschedule within about two days. Its general cancellation page sets out the rules for changing your mind; read it if you book direct.

We Are Juan also sells, on its own site only, a 4D3N El Nido to Coron trip (PHP 23,000, shown as a related product), private trips from PHP 180,000 for the first six people (PHP 12,000 for each extra guest, up to 20), and a private El Nido to Linapacan 2-day trip from PHP 120,000.

Huts, facilities and what the days are like

You sleep in traditional native huts with a mattress, pillows, sheets and a mosquito net. Each hut takes two adults. There is no fan and no air conditioning, and the toilets and showers are shared, not en suite. The listing is blunt: “This experience is not suitable for travellers’ seeking luxury or constant connectivity.” There is minimal electricity, no Wi-Fi, and phone signal is intermittent at best. Bring a power bank.

Your main luggage is stowed on the boat for the whole trip, with no weight or size limit on that bag. Pack a smaller bag, ideally a dry bag, with everything you need for three days.

The listing includes a licensed boat and captain, licensed local guides, an on-board chef, life jackets, mask and snorkel, three meals a day, snacks, drinking water and rum (the El Nido listing adds gin). Days follow the usual expedition rhythm on this route: a morning departure, several snorkelling and beach stops, and arrival at camp late in the afternoon.

We Are Juan’s own site caps each boat at 24 guests. The GetYourGuide listings describe a standard group of up to 25 people. Either way, expect a full, sociable boat.

Rules and the 5 pm briefing

  • Briefing: mandatory, at 5 pm the evening before departure, at the We Are Juan office in your departure town. In El Nido the office is in Pops District, Corong Corong, in a grey two-storey building at the entrance. In Coron it is in Poblacion 1 on the National Highway, opposite Jollibee. Plan to arrive the day before; our getting there guide covers flights and transfers.
  • Age: 16 and over. Not suitable for pregnant women or wheelchair users.
  • Weather: the listing excludes “perfect weather”, and departures depend on Coast Guard clearance like every boat on this route.

What lower-rated reviews mention

Most reviews are glowing, but the 2- and 3-star reviews on GetYourGuide repeat a few points worth knowing before you book:

  • Some guests felt the boat was overbooked, with not enough seats at the table for meals and too few snorkel masks.
  • Several described the boat as old and short of shade, with no covered area to sit out rain.
  • A few found the stops short or busy with other boats, and one wished the route included more of El Nido.
  • One guest wrote in April 2026 that their group was held at the first camp for two days and that their messages afterwards went unanswered.
  • One solo woman traveller said crew attention towards women travelling alone became uncomfortable over three days.

These are a handful among hundreds of reviews. They are a fair picture of the downside of a busy, low-cost, back-to-basics trip.

Who should book We Are Juan

We’d pick We Are Juan if you want the most reviewed 3-day option, a social group, and free cancellation through GetYourGuide. It runs in both directions, so it fits either itinerary.

Look elsewhere if you are under 16 or travelling with younger children, want a fan or a more comfortable camp (see Big Dream Boatman), or want a slower four-night trip (see Tao Philippines). For a 3-day trip with a slightly smaller group and an adults-only crowd, compare Castaway’s Coron to El Nido expedition (4.9 from 45 reviews, $327, 18+, up to 22 people).

Our best expeditions comparison ranks every option, and the direction pages show what else leaves from each town: El Nido to Coron and Coron to El Nido.
