About Us and How We Choose Expeditions

Coron El Nido Expedition is an independent guide to multi-day boat expeditions between Coron and El Nido in northern Palawan, Philippines. We do not run boats, sell trips or represent any operator. Our job is to help you choose the right expedition for your route, budget and comfort level, understand what it really costs and know what to check before you pay.

Who we are

The site is written and edited by the Coron El Nido Expedition editors. We read the listings, the operators’ own websites and terms, official sources and traveller reviews, and we update pages when prices, rules or inclusions change. We do not claim to have sailed with every operator on this site, and we do not write as if we had: where a page describes the trip, it is built from the operators’ published itineraries and from what travellers report in their reviews.

How we choose and compare expeditions

For each expedition we review, we look at:

  • The direction it sails, the number of days and, separately, the number of nights.
  • The price on real departure dates, not only the headline “from” price, and whether it is per person or per group.
  • What is included and excluded: meals, drinks, snorkel gear, transfers and the local environmental fees each municipality charges.
  • Where you sleep: native huts, tents, beach huts or a resort, and what the toilets and showers are like.
  • Rules: minimum age, luggage, the pre-departure briefing and arrival time on the last day.
  • Cancellation terms on the platform and what the operator does when the weather or the Coast Guard stops boats sailing.
  • Rating and number of reviews, plus what low-star reviews complain about.

We also cover well-known operators that sell only direct, such as Tao Philippines and Big Dream Boatman, because a fair comparison needs them. Links to their websites are plain links and earn us nothing.

Where our numbers come from

Marketplace prices are read from GetYourGuide and Viator on the date each page states, for real departure dates. Operator-direct prices come from the operators’ own websites, in the currency they publish, with the date we checked. Ratings and review counts are the platforms’ own figures on that date, rounded to one decimal place. We do not edit, select or write reviews to change a trip’s score.

Practical facts come from primary sources wherever we can find them: PAGASA for the monsoon seasons and climate normals, the Philippine Coast Guard for sailing restrictions, airlines and ferry operators for routes, and the operators’ own pages for itineraries and rules. When sources disagree, we say so or give the range. When we cannot confirm something, we leave it out.

What we will not do

  • We do not accept payment from operators for placement, rankings or reviews.
  • We do not call any operator “safe”. We tell you what can be checked, such as a licensed boat and captain, life jackets and Coast Guard clearance.
  • We do not claim live availability. The booking platform shows the real price and the open dates for your departure.

How the site is funded

When you book through our links to GetYourGuide, Viator or a hotel booking site, we may earn a commission. It does not change the price you pay, and it does not decide which expedition we recommend. The affiliate disclosure explains how this works.

Corrections and contact

If you spot a price, rule or fact that has changed, please tell us at info@coronelnidoexpedition.com and we will check it against the source and update the page.
